No, all linen is provided. Personal clothing and towels are not provided. All specialist activity clothing and equipment is provided.

Prices quoted for courses are all-inclusive. The client group arranges their own transport to and from the appropriate Centre.

How will I be charged?

You will be invoiced for a deposit of 10% of your expected course costs 6 months before the start of your course. The full balance will then be due 3 weeks before the start of your course.

After a booking has been made, when will I need to submit information?

All medical / consent forms, group lists, dormitory lists and staff lists should be forwarded to the appropriate Centre approximately a month prior to the course. Notification of exact numbers, dietary requirements, leaders names and group names should be forwarded to the Centre approximately a fortnight prior to the course if it was not possible to do so earlier.

What is the procedure for pupils requiring financial support?

North Yorkshire L.E.A. operates a system of free places. Schools from other authorities should check with their own Education Office to ascertain what, if anything, is available. In some cases, schools formulate their own internal systems for supporting pupils in need.

Will I be charged for visiting staff accompanying the group?

Free staff places are given with a booking in the ratio of 1 to 12 pupils. Extra staff can attend by arrangement with the individual Centre, but a fee may be charged. Self taught weekend courses operate on a 1 to 6 ratio.

Will staff have to sleep in the same room as pupils?

No. Separate staff facilities are provided adjacent to the group.

Will I be responsible for formulating a course programme?

A Centre Course Director is appointed for each course. He/she will be responsible for suggesting a suitable programme according to your aims and the age and ability of the group. The programme is agreed between the Centre and the group. Evening programmes are managed by visiting staff.

Will Centre staff take on board any suggestions?

Your comments are always welcome, and acted upon whenever possible. There is a de-brief at the end of each course to ascertain development ideas.

What happens if a pupil becomes ill or an accident occurs?

All Centre teaching staff and most domestic staff are First Aid trained and qualified. The Centre has well-established links with local G.P.'s and the local minor injuries unit in the event of a personal accident.

Do you have insurance?

All the Centres are covered for Public Liability Insurance. Personal Accident and Personal Effects insurance are not included in your course fees. North Yorkshire groups / schools may easily access this via County Hall Insurance section. Other authorities / groups may have similar insurance available to groups but you will need to investigate this and other sources of information.
