Introduction to Sea Kayaking

This is the perfect introduction to sea kayaking. If you have paddled on sheltered water and feel the lure of the sea this is the weekend for you. Sea kayaks are very similar to inland kayaks in that paddling techniques are the same but the boats are much longer and are designed to go in a straight line!! During the course we will cover sea kayak handling, safety and rescue skills and trip planning. You’ll find yourself in some of the best paddling locations on the North Yorkshire Coast. The course will be based at East Barnby Centre and will use suitable water locations to develop paddling experience and skills.

The weekend will be very flexible according to what the weather and consequently what the sea state brings

The ability to have a lot of fun and laugh is essential!

This course starts at 9.00am on Saturday.

For those staying residentially accommodation is available on Friday night from 7.00pm if needed. The first meal at the Centre will then be 8.30am on Saturday.
