FAQs

Should I bring my sleeping bag?

No, all linen is provided. Personal clothing and towels are not provided. Any specialist activity clothing and equipment is provided if activities have been booked through East Barnby Centre Outreach Service.

Are there any other costs involved?

Prices quoted for bookings are all-inclusive for the options you have selected. There will be no additional costs added later. Please note that VAT is payable on all non-NYCC and non-taught courses. If you are a charity or school, you can claim VAT back.

How will I be charged?

There will be a non-refundable £50 deposit required, sent with the original booking form, to secure your booking. The balance for your course will be invoiced before your stay. Please note that the minimum group size for charging is 12, you can bring smaller numbers but we have to charge for 12.

After a booking has been made, when will I need to submit information?

Notification of exact numbers, leaders names and group names should be forwarded to East Barnby Centre approximately a fortnight prior to the visit. Dietary requirements (if applicable) should be forwarded to the caterers at their request. NOTE - All medical and consent forms for all attendees should be brought with you

What is the procedure for students requiring financial support ?

North Yorkshire L.E.A. operates a system of free term time accommodation only for eligible students. Schools from other authorities should check with their own Education Office to ascertain what, if anything, is available. In some cases, schools formulate their own internal systems for supporting students in need.

Will I be charged for visiting leader accompanying the group ?

Free leader places are given with each booking in the ratio of 1 to 6 students.

Will leader have to sleep in the same room as students ?

No. Separate leader facilities are provided.

Will I be responsible for formulating a course programme?

Yes, if running your own programme. No, if your buying in the Outreach service from East Barnby.

Do you have insurance?

All the Centres are covered for Public Liability Insurance. Personal Accident and Personal Effects insurance are not included in these fees. North Yorkshire groups / schools may easily access this via County Hall Insurance section. Other authorities / groups may have similar insurance available to groups but you will need to investigate this and other sources of information.

Can I book a weekend visit?

There is weekend availability all year round. Please contact the Centre to discuss your needs. Taught or untaught options are available.
