Humphrey Head Centre for Outdoor Education
Humphrey Head is a superb facility located near Grange over Sands on the edge of Morecambe Bay. The Centre stands on a limestone peninsula which stretches out for almost a mile into the sandbanks and mudflats of the bay. It is an isolated building which occupies a superb position overlooking the estuary of the river Kent with its ceaseless tidal changes and vast population of wading birds. It is close to the Lake District National Park within easy reach of the Coniston and Langdale areas.
The Centre has over 40 years successful experience in providing outdoor and adventurous education. It's primary role is to provide personal and social development through outdoor education, but the surrounding area contains magnificent moorland, gritstone and limestone it is also ideally situated to
act as a base for a wide range of other activities from specific national curriculum issues to broader studies of geography, environmental studies, creative writing, art, music or combinations of these.
