Expedition Skills Module

Training and assessment courses

The Expedition Skills Module is an optional module available to qualified walking leaders. The flexibility of the module makes it particularly useful for holders of the Lowland Leader or Hill & Moorland Leader. Operating within the scope of your leadership award, we will train and assess you in the leadership of groups on multi day camping expeditions.

Bewerley Park has delivered nationally recognised Mountain Training courses for over 50 years. Ideally situated with the hills and moors of the Yorkshire Dales on our doorstep, Bewerley Park is the perfect venue for camping expeditions. The combined Training and Assessment course for the Expedition Skills Module runs at specified times of the year. However, should 4 or more of you wish to complete the module outside of those dates, bespoke courses can be arranged for you.

Click through to the Mountain Training website to view our confirmed course dates.

The course content will follow the Mountain Training syllabus for the Expedition Skills Module. However, our highly experienced, qualified staff possess the skills to personalise their delivery so as to meet everyone’s learning needs.

The course is non-residential, but if required accommodation with full board can be provided for an additional cost. Please contact the office to arrange this.

To attend an Expedition Skills Module course you must meet the pre-requisites laid down by Mountain Training.  To find out these pre-requisites, and also the syllabus for this award, you can visit the Mountain Training website.

Unsure if this is the course for you? Take a look at the qualification pathway graphic below.  You may, however, wish to consider the Mountain Leader.  Click for more information about our Mountain Leader courses.
