SEND and Outdoor Learning

Removing barriers to Outdoor Learning

Through our SEND program we are committed to helping children of all abilities learn and have fun whilst doing so, in a safe but challenging environment.

SEND

We are proud to be involved with the SEND (Special Educational Needs and Disabilities) and ‘Aiming High for Disabled Children’ projects. As a result we have been able to develop our Centres’ adaptive facilities, provide specialist staff training, and expand our range of inclusive equipment. Above all, it has had a massive impact on the numbers of children with additional needs that have been able to access outdoor learning opportunities at the Centres.

Some of the adaptations include:

  • Wheelchair Ramps
  • Accessible Bathroom with mobile hoist & height adjustable change/wash bed
  • Accessible minibuses with wheelchair lift
  • Inclusive indoor climbing wall with wheel chair abseil ramp (EB)
  • Specialist canoe seats and supports
  • Accessible tandem and wheelchair cycles
  • Inclusive sailing

Many of our users have commented on the impact our courses have had for participants with additional needs. For example, Rhiann Askew On Facebook said:

“5 star  – Absolutely perfect SEND Activity Day for our families. Everyone was great and worked really hard to meet everyone’s needs. Really appreciate all the hard work the guys put in to the day to make it so enjoyable”
