Winter Residentials

A targeted boost to progress at the ideal time of year

A Winter residential with us in the late autumn or early spring term has all the benefits of an Outdoor Residential at any time of year. The crucial difference being that the boost to confidence and attainment occurs in the run up to key terms in the academic year.

We know from our own research that all pupils improve their sense of well-being as a consequence of taking part in one of our courses and those benefits are taken with them back into the classroom.

The Education Endowment Foundation has collated research that agrees with our findings. They conclude that “On average, pupils who participate in adventure learning interventions make approximately four additional months’ progress over the course of a year. There is also evidence of an impact on non-cognitive outcomes such as self-confidence.”

So, ask yourself, when in the academic year would this boost in progress be most desirable for your pupils? A winter residential makes so much sense.

Oh, and the weather? Well, the average rainfall for August here is 69.2mm and for January its 71.4mm! So as we say,  no such as bad weather, only the wrong clothes!

Take a look at our calendar of availability here to find a date that suits your school or give us a call to discuss options.
